This week the 353rd Special Operations Maintenance Squadron (353 SOMXS) was renamed the 353rd Special Operations Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (353 SOAMXS) effective Jan. 14, 2019.

The re-designation will move the 353rd SOG into alignment with the Air Force construct of units with aircraft assigned being called an aircraft maintenance squadron (AMXS).  Additionally, this allows the 353rd SOAMXS to align itself in the same way as our sister unit at RAF Mildenhall. This name change will not affect how the squadron operates.

The 353rd SOAMXS provides full spectrum logistics support for the 353 SOG. The squadron's unique composition of airmen provides flexible combat support capability to execute dynamic mission sets associated with small fleet dynamics and special operations aircraft demands.
