A MC-130J Air Commando II flies over the coast of Okinawa Japan as a part of a formation flight to symbolically recognize the contributions the 17th SOS has made to U.S. airpower since WWII, and to symbolize the transition of its members and aircraft to the 1st SOS. In a unique Change of Command ceremony the 1st Special Operations Squadron gained a new commander and the responsibility for a fleet of MC-130J Air Commando IIs previously assigned to the 17th Special Operations Squadron on Friday, April 17, 2020.
