HURLBURT FIELD, Fla. -- Airman 1st Class Travis Dalton provides security for an MH-53 Pave Low helicopter during an exercise here Feb. 22, 2006. Now a staff sergeant, Dalton received the Purple Heart at Craig Joint Theater Hospital in Afghanistan May 10. Sergeant Dalton was wounded in his right arm, hamstrings and buttocks May 8 when an improvised explosive device detonated near him during a dismounted combat patrol in Helmand Province in Afghanistan.
