Gold Thunder 2.0 prepares special tactics combat mission support team for real world operations
A 320th Special Tactics Squadron pararescueman prepared to hoist a Gold Team member out of the water into a Kadena-based HH-60 from the 33rd Rescue Squadron during Gold Thunder 2.0 held at Camp Hansen July 24, 2015. The exercise scenario ended with a sanitation and evacuation of the forward operating location by water via rotary wing aircraft. Gold Thunder 2.0 is a humanitarian assistance disaster/relief scenario exercise put together to train the combat mission support personnel in land and water navigation, establishing a special tactics operations center and a forward operating logistics hub along with other skills such as all-terrain vehicle qualification training, Krav Maga training and exfiltration capabilities with rotary wing aircraft.
