Members of the 353rd Maintenance Squadron were honored by Okinawa City Mayor Mitsuko Tomon Dec. 11 with a certificate of appreciation for their support of the Rainbow Heights Single Mothers Shelter.

The Airmen of the 353rd MXS make several trips each year to the shelter to donate toys, sports equipment, and requested items like cleaning supplies, clothes, school supplies and blankets. The Airmen also take time to play with the children and perform various maintenance and cleanup around the facility during their visits. Members of the 353rd MXS have supported the Rainbow Heights Single Mothers Shelter continuously for the last three years.

Rainbow Heights is part of the Okinawa Single Mothers Program, a government program designed to provide temporary assistance to low-income single mothers and their children who are victims of circumstances including domestic abuse and abandonment.
